Black rice idly | Karuppu kavni rice

This idly is made with karuppu kavuni rice or black rice, the color of the rice will be black purple color due to anti-oxidant properties. Black rice idly or purple rice is good source of several nutrients and it is especially rich in protein, fiber, iron and gluten free grain.

I have made this black rice idly using this proposition 3:1 
3 cups of idly rice and 1 cup of black rice. If you use more amount of black rice, it will become hard.

Ingredients for black rice idly

Black rice - 1
Idly rice   - 3
Urad dal   - 1
Fenugreek seeds - few

Instruction for making black rice idly

Soak the black rice , idly rice and fenugreek seeds in a vessel for about 6 hours.
Soak urad dal separately for 2 hours.
Grind these to make idly batter and allow it  to ferment for about 8 hours.
Now batter is ready to make idly.
