How to clean chicken

Wash the chicken pieces in water. finally wash the chicken pieces by adding  1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and salt.

Ingredients for making chicken gravy

Nattu kozli chicken pieces - 1 kg
Turmeric powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Green chilli - 4 nos
Cardamom - 4 , Cinnamon stick - 2 , Cloves - 5
Oil and salt

To roast and grind:


Small shallots - 15 numbers
Garlic             - 20 cloves
Ginger            - 1-inch piece
Coriander seeds - 1 handful
Dry red chili      - 7 numbers
Pepper seeds      - 1 1/2 tbsp
Fennel seeds + cumin seeds + poppy seeds - 1 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon stick    - 1
Clove                   - 5
Coconut pieces  1 inch    - 2

Step by step procedure


  • Add the chicken pieces to the pressure cooker and allow it to cook for 4 whistles.
  • Add a little amount of oil in pan and roast small shallots and garlic separately and keep aside.

  • Roast remaining ingredients in low flame for 1 to 2 minutes. Don't overheat coriander seeds will turn black soon. Allow all the ingredients to cool and grind to a smooth paste.





  • Heat oil in the pan. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, and cardamon.
  • Add cooked chicken pieces in the pan.


  • Add grounded masala items to the chicken pieces and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.

  • Add the required water to make gravy and allow it to boil.

  • If gravy is thickened, switch off the flame. Country chicken gravy is ready to serve.
